Community colleges have never been in a better position to lead
in addressing many of society’s most pressing issues: A looming
skills gap that threatens our national competitiveness and our
economic vitality. A continuing equity gap that belies our
democratic principles. The tidal wave of 76 million aging “baby
boomers” moving from work to “next chapter” lives. The
sustainability of our environment through conservation and
innovation. Education provides the foundation in seeking solutions
for our future. But it must be coupled with vision, will, and
leadership to make it happen. Please consider these challenges
as you prepare your proposal.
